In Western Poland this week, a three year old girl wandered into the cold. Temperatures dropped below freezing, and Julia was feared dead. The next morning she was found lying on a nearby marsh, frostbitten but alive, her life saved by a mongrel dog who spent the night huddling against her, like a Tauntaun that didn't have to be cut open.
The child, Julia, vanished on Friday and was found lying in marshes several kilometres from her house on Saturday morning, with the dog by her side.
She is now in hospital in western Poland, suffering from frostbite after temperatures fell to -5C (23F).
Firefighter Grzegorz Szymanski said the dog kept the child warm enough to live.
I'm working all day, and won't have time to post anything substantial, so may that heartwarming nugget keep you warm in my absence.
